Data quality and responsibility

Flagday brings together flag days and flag rules from public sources. We work to keep the information accurate and current, but rules, dates and official guidance can change.

How we check the information

Flagday is based on public sources. The structured data is technically validated on every import, and every published flag day must have at least one source reference shown on its detail page. We distinguish dates, flag times, duties, recommendations and permitted flagging when the source does so.

Official does not mean mandatory for everyone

An official flag day may apply only to public authorities, specified buildings, polling stations or vessels. Private flagging may be recommended, customary, permitted or unregulated. Always read the audience and instruction for the relevant day.

Check important decisions

Flagday is an information and planning service, not legal advice or an official notice. If flagging concerns a public authority, public building, employer, ceremony or another situation where an error could have consequences, always check the latest information with the responsible authority or in the rules currently in force.

Updates and corrections

Laws, regulations and recommendations can change after our latest review. We therefore cannot guarantee that all information is always complete or current. When we find an error, we correct the source data and synchronise the correction to our products.
